The RAID paper by Garth Gibson, along with co-authors David Patterson and Randy Katz, has been selected as one of the winners of the 2012 Jean-Claude Laprie Award in Dependable Computing. The paper is: D. A. Patterson, G. Gibson, and R. H. Katz, "A case for redundant arrays of inexpensive disks (RAID)," in SIGMOD'88 Proceedings of the 1988 ACM SIGMOD International Conference on Management of Data, 1988, vol. 17, no. 3, pp. 109-116.
